Anne Sofie Djernis
Meet Anne Sofie Djernis, a Copenhagen-based artist on the verge of completing her Master's degree in Fine Arts at Malmö Art Academy by the summer of 2024.

Djernis specializes in painting, with a profound interest in how we perceive and comprehend the world through mediation—namely, through images and information embedded in various materials. In her artistic process, she starts with pre-existing images and texts encountered in her surroundings. Through these, she fashions new compositions and juxtapositions in her paintings, aiming to challenge and play with our perceptual experience.

Within this series of paintings, she has reflected on the paintings of jungles by the French painter Henri Rousseau to understand and reflect on her view and relationship to the world. Rousseau painted pictures of jungles that he never actually saw. Instead, he sat comfortably and safely in the botanical gardens of Paris and, almost mechanically, painted leaves and plants on top of each other until they finally looked like a jungle.

Jonas Erboe
Jonas Erboe is a Danish visual artist, who will complete his Master's degree in Fine Arts at Bergen Art Academy in the summer of 2024.

His productions are made on the basis of the common and repetitive action, which over time questions accepted truths in regards of identity, language and social relations. Often through exaggeration, absurdity and humor.

The past years his work has surrounded around the phenomenon of marathons, where the act of running a marathon is used as an artistic method to create presence. The common understanding of a marathon as something demanding is used as a reflection on different matters depending on the setting.

These vases are inspired by the ancient prize for winning a marathon. Back then, they were filled with olive oil and other goods and were worth a lot of money.

The images on the vases are either a reference to the playlist Jonas listens to when he performs his marathon performances or to historical sports moments.

From March to May 2024 he will show his project Once Upon a Time at Kunsthal Aarhus. A work consisting of 42 ceramic vases. One for each of the marathons 42 kilometers.
